About Creagan Cottage
The
house itself has quite a history of it's own, being well into it's
second century. During the two World Wars it was used used by the
R.A.F as a billet and spotting post for enemy submarines and other
vessels approaching. When the house was refurbished recently some
interesting items from the wars came to light in the form a handmade
plaque for an officers door, a bunch of rusty keys, and a broken
piece of wood still bearing chalked men's names. In addition, the
remnants of a hide can still be seen in the nearby headland.
In the 1950s a veteran of the 1st World War aquired the remaining
shell of the house and worked to make it into a home. Many people
still know it as "Old Sutties place", and he left us a
legacy of love for our home and community which we are happy to
enjoy!
